These are my thoughts on the end credit music. You might not agree with it all, but that's okay. :) I will warn you that some of this may seem disjointed.

Season One

1. The Journey Begins - This is what I would call Marilla's theme.

2. Story Girl Earns Her Name - The end music is what is called on the Welsman cd "Main Theme/Story Girl Theme". Welsman originally intended the opening theme to be used as Sara's theme. I would call it "Main Theme- Season One". It's not exactly like the main theme as the music isn't quite as long.

3. Quarantine at Alexender Abraham's - Marilla's Theme.

4. Duncan McTavish - Definitely a Hagood Hardy creation. It's an arrangement of Anne's Theme.

5. Old Lady Lloyd - Welsman's arrangement of "Oh, My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose." I really liked Welsman's arrangement and I was happy that the music was later used for Rachel in season six.

6. Proof of the Pudding - Hagood Hardy again. This music makes me think of Marilla and Rachel as I believe the music is often used in "Quarantine at Alexander Abraham's" as well as "The Materializing of Duncan McTavish". I never have been able to decide why it was used in Proof of the Pudding. Proof of the Pudding is one of the rare episodes where most of the music heard in it is only used in the episode. I'm not certain why they chose "Marilla and Rachel" music for the end credits as that piece was never heard in the episode. It's a shame too as Proof of the Pudding, I thought, had some great music.

7. Conversions - "Story Girl Theme" -

8. Aunt Abigail's Beau - Ah, Malcolm's theme music. Very pretty. The music is based upon "My Heart's in the Highlands". After Malcolm and Abigail faded out of the show this music was sometimes played at sad moments.

9. Malcolm and the Baby - Another arrangement of Malcolm's theme.

10. Felicity's Challenge - I think this song could be labeled as the King Theme. This music ended several episodes.

11. The Witch of Avonlea - This is a piece of music that's rarely heard in the series. I think the only other episode this piece is heard in is the end credits of "Felix and Blackie."

12. Hope Chest of Arabella - This episode had some nice music that wasn't played very often. The music was mainly used in episodes that involved the newspaper or a mysteriously themed episode.

13. Nothing Endures but Change - Opening Theme - I think that this music is suiting to the last episode of the season.

Season Two

14. Sara's Homecoming - Opening Theme - I think that this is fitting, especially since Welsman wrote the opening theme thinking of using it as Sara's theme.

15. How Kissing Was Discovered - Gus's Theme - Wonderful piece. I'm not sure if I necessarily agree with this being used as the end credits... the last scene is of Gus walking though... the only other music I can see using would be Felcity's Waltz.

16. Aunt Hetty's Ordeal - Gus's Theme - Other than the main theme I would say that Gus's Theme is the most recognized by fans.

17. Of Corsets, Secrets, and True, True Love - Hagood Hardy composition - I think this might be the only time that this music is played.

18. Old Quarrels, Old Love - hmm... not sure what to call this one. I don't understand why the Hetty/Romney music wasn't used to end this episode...

19. May the Best Man Win - Jasper's Theme. Need I say more?

20. Family Rivalry - I would classify this as the King Theme.

21. Sea Ghost - She's Like the Swallow - This music is often played when the sea or Gus plays a prominent roll in the episode.

22. All That Glitters - Gus's Theme - I really wish that they would have continued the music that Gus played on his fiddle, but I can't complain about hearing Gus's theme end an episode.

23. Dreamer of Dreams - Jasper's Theme

24. It's Just a Stage - Another Hagood Hardy piece. This piece is only ever heard in this episode and, I think, "A Mother's Love".

25. A Mother's Love - similar to the ending heard for "It's Just a Stage". I never liked this ending music for this episode, but I think that's because I associated it with "It's Just a Stage" which is not a favorite episode of mine.

26. Misfits and Miracles - King Theme

Season Three

27. Ties That Bind - variation of Jasper's Theme

28. When She Was Bad... Part One - mournful Gus's theme -

29. When She Was Bad... Part Two - Jo Pitt's Theme, if one can safely call it that without receiving blows from fellow fans. It has a bit of the main theme mixed into it.

30. Felix and Blackie - also the end credits to "The Witch of Avonlea"

31. Another Point of View - This piece is exclusive to this episode.

32. Aunt Janet Rebels - Another exclusive piece.

33. Dark and Stormy Night - theme music from this episode - I *love* this piece. This is another piece I would love to have sheet music to.

34. Friends and Relations - King Theme - The music that's played right before the end credits would be "Annie Laurie".

35. Vows of Silence - King Theme

36. After the Honeymoon - Ah, Don Gillis music. Quite a bit of music in this episode is also heard in "What a Tangled Web We Weave". Other than that, I don't think the music was heard in any, or many, other episodes. A portion of this music is heard on Gillis's RtA soundtrack under "Felix and Blackie."

37. Calamitous Courting - Hetty's Love theme. This music is also heard in "Old Quarrels, Old Love."

38. High Society - King Theme

39. Old Friends, Old Wounds - Red, Red Rose - Since this episode ends with Rachel I think that this music is a fitting choice.

Season Four

40. Tug of War - variation of Jasper's Theme

41. Lady and the Blade - music from "Old Quarrels, Old Love"

42. Incident at Vernon River - Felix's Theme

43. Boys Will be Boys - King Theme

44. Moving On - Gillis music - This music is on the Gills RtA soundtrack under "Rodeo".

45. Evelyn - Ooh... If one really concentrates one can hear that this is a rearrangement of the main theme.

46. The Dinner - Felicity's Waltz - This music was first heard in "Aunt Hetty's Ordeal".

47. Heirs and Graces - Jasper's Theme - Not sure why this is the ending music. Seems odd.

48. Hearts and Flowers - Felicity's Waltz

49. Felicity's Perfect Beau - Winter Jig - This music can be found on Sullivan's "Winter Pleasures" soundtrack. I really like this piece. I think the only other time this music is played is in "An Avonlea Christmas." This piece was played at the beginning of the episode.

50. The Disappearance - The music would be from "The Hope Chest of Arabella King". It's a mysterious sounding piece and I think it suites the end credits of this episode.

51. Home Movie - Okay, I love this piece. The end music is what Alec plays on the piano during Hetty's recitation. I've managed to do a sheet music arrangement for the end credit cut. I would love to one day have the entire piece as Alec played it. This music eventually became Davey's Theme.

52. Hearth and Home - King Theme

Season Five

53. Father's and Sons - THis music was only heard in this episode... This episode had some new music. I thought it was a refreshing start to a season to begin and end with new music.

54. Memento Mori - This piece eventually became the theme to "Wind at My Back."

55. Modern Times - Jasper's Theme, variation

56. A Friend in Need - Home Movie/Davey's Theme

57. Stranger in the Night - Rarely used piece.

58. The Great Race - Gillis music.

59. Strictly Melodrama - rarely used piece of music

60. Someone to Believe in - interesting Gillis piece, a lot of mood changes

61. Thursday's Child - All Through the Night - Very fitting.

62. Best Laid Plans - Gillis music - for some reason the piece makes me think of Felicity and Arthur.

63. Otherwise Engaged - She's Like the Swallow

64. Enter Prince Charming - Wonderful piece of music. Besides "Minister's Wife" this music is heard in "Woman of Importance."

65. Minister's Wife - I think that this piece is exclusive to this episode.

Season Six

66. Return of Gus Pike - She's Like the Swallow - Really, the piece would *have* to be She's Like the Swallow. No other piece could be the end credit for this episode. Even Gus's Theme wouldn't work.

67. Lonely Hearts - Izzy's Piano Piece - This episode had great music. It's a shame the only piece that was used in another episode was "Izzy's Piano Piece".

68. Christmas in June - hmm... Rarely used piece of music.

69. Fools and Kings - Annie Laurie - same as "Aunt Janet Rebels" - very fitting

70: Comings and Goings - Wind at My Back Theme - I'll have to admit that I don't like hearing the WaMB theme used as end credits. Had I never seen WaMB I don't think it would bother me.

71. The Trouble with Davey - Davey's Theme aka Home Movie

72. Great Expectations - Davey's Theme

73. A Fox Tale - hmm... rarely used piece.

74. The More Things Change - exclusive to this episode - I liked it. This episode had some neat music.

75. Home is Where the Heart Is - Red, Red Rose -

76. A Time to Every Purpose - Hetty's Love Theme - a bit odd choice, I think, given the other episodes this music is played.

77. What a Tangled Web We Weave - Possibly only ever heard in this episode.

78. Homecoming - A very mournful "She's Like the Swallow".

Season Seven

79. Out of the Ashes - rare piece... I think that this piece might in some episode go into "She's Like the Swallow."

80. Love May Be Blind... - Gillis piece - I really liked Gillis's music in this episode. I think that it really fit the episode.

81. Davey and the Mermaid - not sure if this music is heard in any other episode...

82. Woman of Importance - same as "Enter Prince Charming" - I really like this piece.

83. Secrets and Sacrifices - new piece - I like it.

84. Ah... Sweet Mystery of Life - exclusive to this episode - I liked it.

85. King of the Great White Way - Izzy's Piano Piece - I thought that this music was fitting in this episode.

86. Total Eclipse - exclusive to this episode - It's okay... Total Eclipse isn't too high on my like list...

87. From Away - rare piece

88. After the Ball - exclusive to this episode - very sad

89. Return to Me - She's Like the Swallow - again, it really has to be... though maybe Gus's Theme might have worked better... I think it could have been either or.

90. The Last Hurrah - Speach Music - This music seems to be Sullivan's favorite piece to use when someone makes a speech. The first time this piece is used is when Jasper tells the cannery workers that he's not reopening. I really enjoy this piece. This piece is also heard in WaMB and Anne3.

91. So Dear to My Heart - same as Memento Moro - later became Wind at My Back Theme - As a fan of Wind at My Back... it's hard to associate this music with Avonlea and thus I don't think it was fitting. I think the most fitting piece that could have been played would have been the first arrangement of the opening theme.
